Dan's Tackle Box

Cape Cod, 2/2019

We stayed with friends in Yarmouth over the long Presidents' Day weekend. I went looking to catch a snowflake striper or winter flounder. South of the Cape winter flounder are out of season until March 1st. North of the Cape they are in season year round. 90% of stripers migrate towards Chesapeake Bay. The rest winter deep in estuaries or lurk around warm power plant outflows.

Dawn on Saturday at Wilbur Park where there is a fishing pier, small sandy beach, limited free parking for shore fishermen, cartop boaters, and boat trailers, and a concrete boat ramp for launching into the Bass River

The property at Wilbur Park is a registered archaeological site. These ancient 3,500 year old Indian stone spearheads were found there.
