I tracked 7 miles of trails and shoreline at the Wachusett Reservoir today, starting from gate 35. A fish took a swipe at, and missed, a Rapala off Tahanto Point. Later, on Bull Rock, while hurling a large saltwater plug, a Daiwa SP Minnow, a big fish slammed the lure but came unbuttoned during the fight. Disappointed, I head back towards 35, stopping at a small cove on the way to catch a 4.5 pound largemouth on a black shaky head jig rigged with a black swimbait trailer, and was so excited.
